The Position We are seeking a Senior HR Business Partner to serve as a strategic partner to leadership within our San Francisco or San Jose studio while also supporting regional teams. This role works closely with leaders and employees to align talent strategies with business priorities, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and enhance employee engagement across a dynamic, design-driven environment. The Sr. HR Business Partner will play a key role in advising leadership, supporting workforce planning initiatives, driving talent development strategies, and ensuring HR programs are implemented effectively. This role supports both the San Francisco and San Jose offices and requires periodic travel between locations.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with studio and regional leaders to align HR strategies with business goals and workforce priorities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on organizational design, workforce planning, and talent development initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to managers on employee relations, performance management, and team development.
  • Support initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, retention, and overall workplace culture.
  • Assist in implementing structured career pathways, competency frameworks, and job architecture initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development teams to identify and support high-potential talent and development plans.
  • Monitor HR metrics and workforce trends to provide insights that inform leadership decisions.
  • Ensure HR practices remain compliant with federal, state, and local employment laws, including California employment regulations.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and Compensation teams to support strategic hiring and competitive pay practices.
  • Support HR programs and initiatives that enhance employee experience across studios.


What You Need (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations, performance management, and talent development.
  • Experience supporting professional services, consulting, or design-driven environments preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to partner with leadership and influence decision-making across multiple levels.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to leverage HR data for business insights.
  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) preferred.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office tools; familiarity with performance or learning platforms is a plus.
